Sarah Tarkington: Yoga
Sarah has been practicing yoga for over a decade. She is grateful to have sampled a large variety of yoga practices and learned from a diverse group of excellent teachers. Other movement arts such as modern dance and belly dance have also been part of her past movement explorations. Sarah recently completed her RYT 200-hr Teacher Training Program in March 2012 at Yoga North in Duluth, and is continuing on with her 500-hr training. She enjoys assisting students find freedom and self-acceptance of their bodies through movement, particularly, yoga. She's also a big fan of Yoga's ability to still the endless chatter of the mind and reconnect with the present. She hopes to bring a sense of balance, energy, and joy to the classes she teaches.
Sarah is originally from MI and now makes her home in Washburn with her partner, Bob, a moderatly well-behaved husky, and three pampered chickens. She holds a degree from Northland College in Environmental Policy but her true passions lay in sustainable agriculture. She has enthusiastically spent the last two growing seasons at Hermit Creek Farm and tends her own large home garden. Sarah recently completed a year of service with the Chequemegon Bay Farm to School Program as the Community Outreach Member working on school garden initiatives and creating better access to healthy local foods for school children. She views both yoga and farming as vital ways to nourish people.
When not farming or praciting yoga, Sarah loves to explore all the outdoor splendors of the Chequemegon Bay whether it be through hiking or paddling, or just watching a sunset. Reading, writing, cooking and preserving are all activities Sarah can also be found absorbed in. You can also come visit her at Solstice Outdoors where she works part-time.
