FAQs
I’ve never done Yoga before, can I come to the Beginner Class?
Yes. Of course! Our drop-in beginner classes are perfect for folks who have never attended a class but want to try it out. A few times a year, we also offer Intro series, so keep an eye out for those classes as they are tailored for folks who have never tried Yoga or need a basic refresher. Check out our Welcome video for the basics on what to do when you come to the studio for the first time.
What should I bring?
We tend to teach poses without a heavy reliance on props. But we do provide everything that you would need at the studio for you to use, free of charge. Lots of folks ask if they should bring their own mats. While not a requirement of attending class by any means, we generally recommend bringing your own mat if you do have one and remember to bring it!
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move and stretch in. For most of us, this means anything but jeans!
Do I have to take off my socks to do Yoga?
Nope, but most students do. Socks on sticky mats can make for a less “sticky” experience, which can feel harder. We do ask street shoes are removed before entering the main portion of the studio.
How early should I arrive for class?
Many of our evening classes have just 15 minutes between sessions, so we recommend no earlier than 15 minutes before the start of the class to allow for the previous class to exit. Classes start on-time, so as long as you arrive with enough time to get ready (i.e. change or get settled), you should be fine. If you’re a few minutes late, we just ask students to quietly enter the studio and find a space towards the back of the class.
Do I have to register for your drop-in classes?
Nope. We heard over and over again that too many classes in this area required pre-registration. And guess what, life gets in the way some weeks! We hope that students come to our classes WHEN THEY WANT TO, not because they FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE TO. We do offer some introductory classes that are structured to meet on a weekly basis. These are usually listed as “Series” on our schedule and other materials. These classes and our workshops do require pre-registration.
I want to buy a Class Pass, where do I do that?
First off, awesome! You can buy a class pass a couple ways:
1) In the studio with cash or check. Checks made payable to Ashland Yoga Studio. Just ask your instructor if you need help setting up a pass the first time.
2) Here on the website. Right in the sidebar over there, or on the Other Services page, select either a 5-Class Pass for $45 or a 10-Class Pass for $90. Be sure to print off proof of payment and bring that in to the studio to start your pass.
What classes can I use a pass for?
Passes are good for any drop-in class offered at Ashland Yoga Studio and are valid for a year from the time you purchase them. They can also apply to some multi-class series, but instructor/studio permission is required. Passes are not transferable to workshops.
Do you have a monthly pass or membership?
Not yet, but it’s something we’re working on! Some insurance companies will reimburse for classes attended, and we’re happy to provide receipts or documentation of your attendance in such a case. Email us or contact us through our website to set this up.
I can’t find the studio! Where are you located?
First off, here's a map. We’re located at 1207 Lake Shore Dr E in Ashland (brick building), which is about a block before Frankie’s and Pizza Pub on the lake side of the road. The entrance is around back of the building, by the parking lot. We talk about that in our Welcome video too.
