Charmaine Swan: Yoga

Charmaine began studying yoga in 2000 at Mound Street Yoga Center with the late Roger Eischens. Initially, she was attracted to the practice of yoga as a way to rehabilitate from a knee injury while rowing crew at the UW. Her yoga mat quickly turned into one of the first things she would pack when going on any trip.

Charmaine started teaching yoga in 2007 in Ashland, Wisconsin and in December of 2008 completed a 200-hour Alignment Yoga Teacher Training program with Scott Anderson. She opened the Ashland Yoga Studio in the fall of 2010. She is also a certified to teach using the TRX Suspension Trainer. Charmaine plans to begin the 500hr level training with Scott Anderson in February of 2012.

Her goal while teaching is to create a safe space for the beginner to the more advanced student to explore yoga, build a community, and break common yoga myths.

With the birth of her son, Axel, in June of 2009 her interests have shifted to pre-pregnancy and post-partum yoga. She is curious about discovering new ways to incorporate the practice of yoga into her daily life with a small child. Charmaine teaches a monthly prenatal yoga session as a part of the free Childbirth Education classes offered at Memorial Medical Center.

She teaches a limited number of group classes, but is available for private sessions. Please contact us if you are interested in arranging a private session.
